Cuba Day 7 – Mountains and Cave Discos and Me, The Town Drunk

May 29, 2016 / Dan Hackett / Leave a comment

After just a week in Cuba I’d taken a hell of a beating: alone, humiliated, skint, sunburned and stupid. May 28, 2016 / Dan Hackett / 1 Comment

On my sixth day in Cuba I bid farewell to my German travel companions and it turns out that was  terrible idea resulting in one of the most profoundly humiliating evenings of my life. When you’ve read today’s diary entry, consider this: it actually gets worse. Enjoy!

May 27, 2016 / Dan Hackett / Leave a comment

May 26, 2016 / Dan Hackett / 1 Comment

Day two of my Cuban diary, and my first full day in the country. It was also the first day of my first conning/polite robbery, at the hands of a gold-toothed charlatan named Julio. Wherever you are now, Julio, fuck you.

Enjoy!

Cuba Day 1 – Arrival In Havana

May 23, 2016 / Dan Hackett / 2 Comments

Today is the first entry in my Cuban diary, which I will be publishing every day over the next couple of weeks. Things start off pretty tame in Havana. They certainly didn’t end that way. Enjoy…

The Times They Are A Changin’

March 22, 2016July 11, 2023 / Dan Hackett / Leave a comment

Play this song while you read this article. It might make it seem much more poignant. Maybe too poignant, verging on cheesy. Time will tell. It’s a good song, anyway.

On the 21st of March, 2016, Barack Obama became the first US president to step foot in Cuba since 1928. Continue reading →
